From Simple to Spectacular

Established in 1994, 2 Dine 4 Fine Catering has innovated catering concepts for every kind of event. Like Austin, our service, cuisine & event production style is fun, spirited & memorable.

Our catering portfolio includes corporate events, nonprofit fundraisers, wedding receptions & private parties. Within 2007, we successfully produced 393 events. We’ve received various accolades from The Austin Chronicle, including the 2001 Best of Austin Reader’s Poll for Catering in 2001. The Chronicle’s Food Editor Virginia B. Wood called 2 Dine 4 Fine Catering “one of the best caterers in a city brimming with good caterers.”

Our Location, Our Oasis

We are a locally owned and operated company made up of a close-knit staff of catering and event-planning professionals. Our office and kitchen space is located in the heart of East Austin at 3008 Gonzales Street, just around the corner from the intersection of 7th Street and Pleasant Valley.

Executive Bios

Owner and Catering Director Stephen Shallcross – Stephen’s motto is “Celebrate Life.” He applies this maxim to his personal and professional worlds, which often overlap. The personal interest he takes in his clients and their functions has transformed many professional relationships into lifelong friendships. Stephen’s truest joys are good food, fine wine, great friends and especially enjoying all of them in combination.

Executive Chef Chris Chism – Chism’s culinary career began in Dallas, where he trained under French Chef Jean Lafont at critically acclaimed Vaccaro’s Restaurant. He was selected by Stephen Pyle for the opening team of Star Canyon Restaurant where he honed his skills as a line chef in high volume fine dining. From there, he was recruited for the executive chef position at Mezzaluna in Aspen, CO. He spent five years in Aspen and became the executive chef at Aspen Ski Company. In 1999, he was drawn back to Texas with a chef position at Jeffrey’s restaurant in Austin. While at Jeffrey’s he was chef and catering manager and became the executive chef of Cipollina. In March 2004 Chism was named executive chef of 2 Dine 4. He loves nothing more than the challenge of creating dishes and exacting the culinary fantasies of our clients.


We have four full-time event planners on staff. From the moment you call, one of our professionally trained event planners will guide you through menu & venue selection, décor choices, entertainment coordination & anything else to make your event planning experience a spectacular one. We are happy to do it all or help do-it-yourself types by pointing you in the right direction.

Destination Catering

SWOOP Events, an extension of 2 Dine 4 Fine Catering, has swooped into the forefront of destination catering. Over the last six years Shallcross’ sense of adventure and Chism’s considerable culinary ability has brought 2 Dine 4 to exotic locales including St. Lucia, Playa del Carmen, Cabo San Lucas, and Anguilla.

Most notably, 2 Dine 4 has catered in lavish Pebble Beach, California for 1,500 guests at the AT&T Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament. December brought an opportunity to cater in St. Lucia, British West Indies, and plans for more IMI events in Playa Del Carmen are in the works for the upcoming year. To meet the growing need for destination management services, Shallcross has plans to launch SWOOP Events, an event-planning wing of the company.

And, during an event in Cabo San Lucas, servers wearing Brazilian swords and cooking over an open flame prepared skewers of marinated loin of lamb. Handmade sopes were delicately placed alongside blue, yellow and red corn tortillas. They served ceviche, Mahi Mahi and the freshest sea bass. Meanwhile, the ocean waves in their delicate cacophony broke on the shore.

So, anywhere from the middle of the desert to oceanfront property…if you want it we can do it!
